U-pick Specialty Pumpkins at Giancarelli’s Farm

Fall is officially here with all the apples, cider and beautiful foliage you can handle. With Halloween fast approaching it’s time for pumpkin pie, pumpkin seeds and messy carving as well. Tired of the same old pumpkins, I decided I’d find some unique varieties to bring something new to your carving (and dinner) table.

Local App Feature: Farmshed CNY.

While I was shopping in my new favorite wine shop, Vinomania, the owner handed me a flyer for this great new iPhone app called Farmshed, which helps you search and browse local food producers in CNY and the Finger Lakes region. Using it right now I’ve been able to find local CSAs, farms, farmers markets, u-pick farms, wineries, restaurants and even produce stands.

Lee’s Bees: A Guru Life-Changer.

Interested in buying your produce local and organic without the danger of being run down by a shopping cart? Then head out to the Skaneateles Farmer’s Market at Austin Park on Jordan Street.
