With this article I’ve tried to pull together all the things to ensure you have the most fun, safe and exciting New Year’s Eve in Syracuse. I’ve provided affordable options and luxurious options for hotel and limo service, included trustworthy taxi services and topped it off with an Armory Square bar guide to ensure a drama-free evening. I’ve also highlighted the biggest all-inclusive NYE events in Syracuse. I hope you enjoy what I’ve put together and if you want a limo call as soon as possible–there’s still time!

Recess Coffee House & Roastery, a very cool spot in ‘Cuse just off Westcott Street is on the brink of celebrating their 5th year in business and is throwing a huge, Alto Cinco-catered party featuring seven bands to mark the occasion. The event kicks off at 6:00 p.m. this Friday, December 23rd and won’t stop rocking until 1:00 a.m. Spark Contemporary Art Space and Badlands (1005-1007 Fayette Street) is hosting the party and based on the information I’ve already provided, sounds like one hell of a night.

One of my favorite low-key bars in Armory Square, King of Clubs is hosting a concert featuring local rapper and multi-talented musician Joe Driscoll. He will perform his signature style of hip-hop, which borders on too many genres to even describe. One minute you think your hearing reggae, then it’s folk, but in the next minute it changes to full on hip-hop. I saw him for the first time last week at Empire Brewing Company and the bar was packed for his show.

Another installment of SyracuseFirst’s networking event known as Local Thirst is happening on Wednesday, December 14th at 5:30 p.m. I’ve covered it in the past, if you want to see what the last one was about. If you’re still unsure what SyracuseFirst is all about I’ll sum it up for you. The organization supports any and all local business by educating, hosting events and promoting a “buy local” agenda that–as I said in the past–is incredibly important for ensuring Syracuse remains a vibrant business community.

By now you all know that I love Kitty Hoyne’s so I just couldn’t help writing this quick feature. Known for excellent and authentic Irish fare and frequent specialty beer features, the downtown pub is hosting a 6-course dinner in celebration of this season’s arrival of Sierra Nevada’s Celebration Ale. It’s on Wednesday, December 7th starting at 6:30 p.m.

Because it’s a bit of a slow week event-wise in Syracuse I’ve decided to do another art related piece. Starting December 1st until March 18th, head to the SUArt Galleries to see the amazing, minimal work of Cuban artist Emilio Sanchez. He’s an extremely well-known artist who spent his career creating beautiful, vivid and occasionally abstract work featuring buildings, houses and other structures. The paintings are all similar in that they have strong, defined lines and a delightful color palette.

If you’re anything like me, you know that the condiments are often more important that the actual food. Being a lover of Mexican food and Asian cuisine of all origins, you begin to grow an affinity for the extra elements that make the meal something memorable. For me, whatever I’m eating is always a potential “condiment delivery system” and I’ll tell you what–the obsession for salsas, hot sauce and other various ways to liven up a snack grows stronger by the day.
Read MoreThe Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe at Syracuse Stage!
The colder it gets in Syracuse, the less likely you are to see me anywhere outdoors–it’s a sentiment I’m sure many other Syracusans are beginning to remember as the temperature drops. But never fear, I’ll make sure the similar minded always find something fun (and warm) to do. If you’re looking for a great theater production plan on seeing The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe presented by Syracuse Stage. I saw it years ago as a kid and I’ll always remember the experience.
