After a short hiatus, the Guru’s favorite Irish pub–Kitty Hoynes–is hosting another of its signature beer dinner events! Kitty Hoynes brings you the best craft beer and perfectly pairs each with a set number of courses. This event features the Seattle-based Pyramid Breweries and 5 expertly crafted courses specifically designed to compliment the beer. Hoynes head chef Damien Brownlow is behind the night’s feast. So this afternoon I had the opportunity to check out the Pride of New York Harvest Fest at the New York State Fairgrounds. My photographer and I spend a few hours wandering the immense Horticulture Building, eating and talking with local food vendors and business owners–we also walked away with some pretty serious loot. In my featured article about the Harvest Fest, I talked about the number of vendors but today I was completely overwhelmed with the vast selections.

Being ever vigilant in my search for new ways to consume alcohol, I discovered Wolaver’s Organic Pumpkin Ale ($9.99/six pack) at Wegman’s today. You may remember one of my early posts on another of Wolaver’s brews, but this one is way better and more importantly, brewed with Vermont pumpkins! Not only that, but the pumpkins are organically grown less than twenty miles from the Vermont brewery.
