One of the most important aspects of my mission with Syracuse Guru is to connect locals with the great events that are always going on. I’m of the opinion that highlighting only the best things to do in Syracuse is one way we move the narrative away from negativity. I think of it as a PR campaign for our city. My role is a combination of Syracuse promoter and independent media source.

Since I’ve been the Guru I’ve met so many great people involved in all kinds of pro-Syracuse projects, which all have a place and enrich our city. Of all these projects there is one that truly inspires me. It’s called NOexcuses and my closest advisor, business partner (on non-Guru projects), and friend is behind the whole thing. Michael John Heagerty is practically a Syracuse institution at this point (see ToTs). He knows what’s going on, who’s behind it–and most important–how to provide excellent experiences whether waiting on you at Kitty Hoynes, curating events, or serving as a personal tour guide.

NOexcuses is akin to Guru because it’s truly the first of its kind. NOexcuses offers Syracuse and CNY based tours to locals and visitors. But how, you ask, is this something new? Well, because like Guru it actually filters out the boring stuff and presents the truly wonderful details of Syracuse but in an exclusive tour format. It’s a way for locals to reengage with the area and a simple solution for visitors looking to get an authentic Syracuse experience instead of just passing through. The end result? People are forced to admit that Syracuse has amazing people, projects, businesses, and much more. NOexcuses will deliver the most in-depth tours with a focus on the actual people that are making things happen in the ‘Cuse.

Via the official website NOexcuses specializes in “Providing distinctive tours of the great Syracuse community while delivering an engaging, fun experience for locals and visitors alike.” This is an important aspect of creating a better Syracuse, one in which we can have passion and an understanding that great ideas executed by smart people are the way forward. As a major proponent of these ideas, I am happy to announce an ongoing collaborative partnership with NOexcuses. The Guru’s the guy you go to for independent recommendations and insider articles, but NOexcuses will put you right in the action!

NOexcuses, just like SyracuseGuru.com, is founded on the concept of bringing you the absolute best this city has to offer, but it takes the concept in a different direction by actually being your personal guide. NO ONE is doing this and I have serious doubts about anyone else besides Chief Connective Officer  Michael John Heagerty doing it the right way. I’m glad to be a part of the project.

On top of the tours, NOexcuses has partnered up with a number of local bloggers who will post exclusive stuff on the EXplore section of the website. Stay tuned for that.
