The spring semester at Syracuse University is almost done and that can only mean one thing–the Senior Collection Fashion Show is almost here! On Thursday, April 25th at 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Schine Student Center’s Goldstein Auditorium. The annual show presents the work of seniors in the College of Visual and Performing Arts fashion design program. It’s the last hurrah for fashion majors and a great chance for the public to see what they’ve been working on. It’s always a unique experience year to year and one you should definitely check out.
The 2013 Senior Collection Fashion Show is a big deal on the Hill and with almost 30 fashion design majors participating, it’s not hard to see why. Seniors are required to submit six pieces that will make up their collection so you’re going to see a wide range of work. The world of fashion design, whether in school or at the professional level, is obviously highly competitive. That means to stand out one must really bring something unique to the table. You’re bound to see some excellent, innovative designs. Surviving a full-time fashion design workload is quite an achievement in itself so I say buy a ticket and show the seniors some love.
The Senior Collection Fashion Show is the real deal, complete with models, couture designs, and is a full production that’s worth your time. If you do the math, you can count on seeing nearly 170 designs spanning 28 total collections. If you love fashion, are maybe considering SU’s program, or just want to support these talented kids, you can’t go wrong!
Tickets went on sale at the end of March and are still available at Schine Box Office. You can contact the Schine Box Office at (315) 443-4517. There are two shows. The 12:30 p.m. matinee is just $6 and the 7:30 p.m. show is $30 for floor seats or $20 for balcony ($15 for students with SU I.D.). I recommend going to the evening show for the full effect.
I’d also like to highlight the after-party. Armory Square art gallery XL Projects (307-313 S. Clinton St.) is throwing a midnight party featuring live models, music, and fun to celebrate a night of SU fashion. Congratulations, seniors!
