2nd Annual Pepper Market!

3

The same crew who brought you the Salt Market in October are back with their other awesome local pop-up market known as the Pepper Market. It’s on Saturday, December 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 499 South Warren Street. Pepper Market is a very similar concept to Salt Market except the deals are even better. Everything–all the art, goods, and wares of all vendors–is $30 or less. Pepper Market features thirty local artists, craftspeople, and more. It’s a great chance to do some shopping for the holidays and actually walk away with some unique, CNY-made items. If you attended this year’s Salt Market you have a pretty good idea of what to expect. Pepper Market is highly recommended. Plus it’s only a buck to get in!

The sister event, Salt Market, started back in 2009 and attracted some 800 people. After multiple successes and growing interest with the intriguing pop-up Salt Market, the Pepper Market launched last year. Although I wasn’t able to attend I heard lots of good things about the event. Both these markets are creations of four talented women who always seem to have a cool project in the works. Briana Kohlbrenner, Vanessa Rose, Stasya Erickson, and Courtney Rile make these events happen and I’m always a supporter of their work. They run a number of excellent community-minded projects and focus on improving and/or bringing something new and unique to ‘Cuse. We need that.

Local artists and craftspeople really do rely on public awareness of their efforts and wares and the Pepper Market does just that. It’s the most convenient way to instantly find out what’s being made here, but also your best bet to conveniently find locally-made gifts. Whether you’re looking for some unique stationary or letterpress prints, vegan soaps, handmade bow ties, sign-painting art, or sustainable wooden items that utilize reclaimed wood from Syracuse’s Near Westside–Pepper Market has all that and more.

There’s really not much more to say, so here’s the entire vendor list!

Vendors include: Barbara Bags, Black Rabbit Studio, Breakher Designs, Button Bizarro, Dulcie Miller Clayworks, East St Tins, Fly Rabbit Press, Fuzzy Bunny, The Girl with the Curls, Handcandy Mittens, Henwood and Stetson, J.Vargas, Jen Gandee Ceramics, Katie Vaz Designs, Laurel O’Brien Jewelry, Nik Moore & Liz Tillotson, Peaches Products, Pistachio Press, Planetarium, PURE Natural Minerals, [re]think Syracuse, RosMari Brand, Salt Works, Secret Lentil, Soft Shell Crafts, TerreMum, Tiny Farm Studio, Theresa Barry, Tommy Lincoln, and WRKDesigns.
