More Local Hip-Hop: Goonies at Al’s

Coming up very soon at Al’s Wine & Whiskey Lounge, don’t miss local hip-hop band The Goonies! They just played a successful show at Taste of Syracuse and now they’re coming to the Armory. I’m a big fan of The Goonies for several reasons. From lyricism to production to studio recordings, they are truly impressive. I wrote a popular review of their newest album and couldn’t find a weakness. I’ve covered (and attended) many of their shows and it’s always fun and rowdy. This one is on Thursday, June 27th at 10:00 p.m. and it’s free. Highly recommended.

Local hip-hop has very few ambassadors but The Goonies are the best. Combining a full band with live instrumentation and rapping takes the genre to a new level. The Goonies play a limited number of shows but recently opened for two different Wu-Tang Clan members including GZA and Ghostface Killah. Both shows were great but I prefer to see The Goonies at smaller venues like Al’s or Empire Brewing Company.

This will be my third Goonies show and a highly recommend first-timers to put this show on their list. It’s on a Thursday, but if you love hip-hop that won’t stop you. Expect an energetic performance of songs from The Goonies two expertly produced albums. Read my review of The Goonies’ newest album, Too.

Don’t miss this show!
