Golfers looking to raise funds for a very important cause might be interested in CNY SPCA’s “Give Me Shelter” golf tournament. Unfortunately this tournament was cancelled the last two years, but it looks like it’s going to happen for 2013. Marcellus course The Sunset Ridge Golf Club is hosting the event on Monday, July 22nd. Registration is at 9:00 a.m. and the tournament kicks off at 10:00 a.m. It’s $125 per golfer and $500 plus a $20 skins fee if you’ve got a team. That’s not bad considering that you’re getting a cart, lunch, prizes, and a prime rib dinner. Plus it directly supports the mission of CNY SPCA.
CNY SPCA does many things. They provide public education programs to teach proper care and treatment of animals, they’ve got a pet food pantry for those with financial need, they offer low income spay, neuter, and vaccines for pets, investigate animal cruelty, and put on special events to support this needed work. They also offer adoption services and keep a running list of available pets on the website. On top of all these services, CNY SPCA helps connect owners with lost pets. Obviously there’s a tremendous cost involved in such a multifaceted organization. Your participation in this golf tournament is one of many ways you can lend a hand to the SPCA!
Sunset Ridge is a 1998 founded 18 hold course on Seneca Turnpike with semi-private membership. There’s a 300-yard deep driving range, putting and chipping greens, and a Certified PGA Instructor on site. The course layout is links style and offers a challenge to golfers of many abilities. The course includes six par 3s, six par 4s, and six par 5s that will keep you on your toes. Check out the map below:
