New Orleans Inspired Beer Dinner at Empire

Here’s another option for New Year’s Eve, this time it’s a four course gourmet dinner with beer pairings! The Armory Square favorite Empire Brewing Company is hosting a December 31st dinner inspired by New Orleans. It kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and runs until 10:30 p.m. when Soul DJs will spin a signature blend of old school hip-hop and soul on wax to round out the evening. It’s only $40 per person!

Guru readers know I love Empire Brewing Company for obvious reasons, and this dinner is just another one. Gourmet food expertly paired with delicious locally-brewed beer is always a good idea, but what a great way to start your New Year’s Eve.

Here’s the menu including beer pairings:

Shrimp Etouffee: a spicy chocolate-roux thickened stew with shrimp and a vegetable “holy trinity”. Served with steamed white rice
BEER PAIRING: Empire Amber Ale

Hoppin’ John: black eyed peas with local smoked ham hock & vegetables. Served over pearl barley
BEER PAIRING: Empire State Pale Ale

Maine lobster: one-and-a-half pound steamed lobster served with saffron drawn butter and local salt potatoes.
BEER PAIRING: Empire White Aphro

King Cake: a traditional “good luck” sugar-cinnamon ring cake serve with rum raisin ice cream.
BEER PAIRING: Empire Winter Warmer

You can’t possibly deny that this is an awesome option for New Year’s Eve, even if you’re just sticking around for the four course dinner. I don’t think you’ll find Maine lobster on any other $40 multi-course dinner in town. Just remember that $40 doesn’t include tax or tip. At 11:00 p.m. Empire will be filled with classic tunes as Soul DJs keep the partying going until close at 2:00 a.m. Definitely worth your time!
