LoFo’s 1st Year Anniversary: Open House

One of my favorite downtown restaurants just about made it through a year of being in business and they’re throwing an little party to celebrate. On Friday, June 28th starting at 6:00 p.m. the small, alternative eating establishment and one of the newest restaurants in the Armory welcomes everyone to stop in. For those of you who don’t know–LoFo, formerly Lost & Fondue in Skaneateles–offers all kinds of food and smoothies with a local twist. They cover the range of raw, vegan, vegetarian, but also offer meat-based items and tea. For a while now they’ve been focused on breakfast and lunch but some larger dinner items will be rolled out soon. Whether you know Jonathan and Abigail or have never set foot in LoFo, come at 6:00 p.m. for hors d’oeuvres, fresh juice shooters, and a sneak peak at what’s coming next!

LoFo’s prototype Lost & Fondue was positioned as a sort of whimsical tea house with local, healthy, and gourmet food and tea. Things didn’t quite work out as planned (like in most businesses) and the re-branded LoFo opened up shop in the Armory where Movino’s or more recently Big Slim’s use to be. Since then it seems like LoFo organically developed into a more diverse restaurant–tying a very long list of fine teas and fresh local produce with a much broader food concept.

While local is the big thing at LoFo (often used as an abbreviation of “Local Food”), so is gluten free and meatless. But that doesn’t mean you can’t stop in for a hearty breakfast complete with bacon and French toast loaded with local fruit. This is what I’m most fond of when it comes to LoFo. It’s not just one thing; it can be as healthy or rich as you want. You can order a cheesy, brie-filled chicken sandwich on thick Heidelberg or you can get a fresh juice and a bowl of veggies. The menu is really quite small but the diversity of food is surprising. No wonder LoFo has become an Armory Square favorite with a long list of regulars.

When I heard that the first year anniversary was fast approaching (June 30th) AND the rumors about reintroducing local cheese-based fondue, I was thrilled. So stop by on Friday night and join the celebration, you’ll be the first to know what’s next for one of our favorite Syracuse restaurants. Hope to see you there.
